The sun’s secret treasure
The story of Hallalähde stretches back over 5,000 years.
Over five thousand years ago, the village elder of Sarakallio had a dream about a treasure. In the dream, ancestors told him that the sun’s secret treasure lay where the golden orb of the sun descends. The next day, men searching for the treasure found a depression filled with large stones. The men began throwing the stones away. The village elder lifted the last stone. Then a column of water gushed high from within the earth! Thus was born Hallalähde!
The treasure was life-sustaining cold and fresh water. It still gushes from Hallalähde to this day.

The spring water rises from deep within the earth, and a natural filtration system ensures the water remains pure and clear year-round. Finland’s clean, untouched nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
As agricultural entrepreneurs, Anna and Matti have learned to respect nature and its diversity. Hallalähde has been the source of vitality for their farm for generations.
A natural wonder shaped by the Ice Age
Hallalähde is an area formed in the aftermath of the Ice Age. It was created when a melting ice block left a depression or kettle in the ground. Groundwater filtered through the Hietasyrjäkangas ridge still bubbles up here with powerful pressure. The spring is located on the southern slope area of the ridge, and its water rises from deep through soil layers, pure, clear and untouched.
A spring forms when water travels a long journey through nature before rising to the surface. Rain and meltwater seep into the ground, especially into the sand and gravel layers of ridges, where the water is purified and filtered layer by layer. Water absorbed into the ground forms groundwater, and when the water table meets the surface, water naturally emerges. This is how a spring is born.

Hietasyrjän Vesi Oy was officially founded in 2016, but it wasn’t until 2025 that the entrepreneurial couple’s long-ripening idea of bringing spring water to the market began to materialize. Raised in the countryside as agricultural entrepreneurs, Anna and Matti had admired the power of Finnish nature for years – and how ancient sand ridges filter water into a pure, fresh, and life-sustaining force.
And now it was time to share this sun’s secret treasure with others too.
